Chasing Greener Grass (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates chasinggreenergrass.com (the “Site”). This policy explains what information we collect, what we don’t collect, and how we handle data. The short version: we collect very little, we don’t sell anything, and we don’t track you.

What we don’t collect

We have no user accounts. There is no login, no registration, and no profile. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any personally identifying information as part of using the Site.

We do not use social media pixels or advertising trackers. We do use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the Site is used — see the Analytics section below for a full breakdown of what that collects and how to opt out. If this Site displays ads through Google AdSense or a similar network in the future, those advertising partners may use additional cookies — see the Cookies and advertising section below for details.

The salary and income figures you enter into the calculator are processed entirely in your browser. They are not transmitted to our servers, stored, logged, or associated with you in any way.

What our hosting provider may log

The Site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel’s infrastructure may log standard server access data — IP address, browser type, referring URL, requested page, and timestamp — for the purposes of operating and securing their infrastructure. We do not access or use these logs to identify or track individual visitors. Vercel’s own privacy policy governs how they handle infrastructure-level data.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the Site — which pages are viewed, how long visitors spend on them, and general traffic patterns. This helps us improve the Site over time.

GA4 automatically collects the following when you visit: a cookie to identify your session, your approximate location derived from your IP address (not your precise location or full IP address), your device type and browser, the pages you view, and your referral source — meaning what site or search brought you here. This is aggregate behavioral data and is not used to personally identify individual visitors.

This is distinct from the infrastructure logging described above. Hosting logs are a baseline of running any website; GA4 is an active analytics tool we have chosen to add so we can understand how the Site is being used.

Google processes GA4 data according to its own policies. We encourage you to review Google’s Privacy Policy to understand how Google handles this data — we do not control that end.

You can opt out of GA4 data collection through your browser’s built-in tracking-protection settings, most ad-blocking extensions, or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Cookies and advertising

This Site may in the future display advertisements served by Google AdSense or similar third-party advertising networks. If and when it does, those companies may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies would enable it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings or the industry opt-out page at aboutads.info. We do not control third-party advertising cookies, and this Privacy Policy does not cover how those companies use your information — please refer to their own privacy policies for details.

Data sources

All data displayed on this Site — tax brackets, cost-of-living figures, migration data, climate data, and natural hazard risk scores — comes from named public government sources. We do not collect this data from you. For a full list of sources, see our Methodology page.

Links to other sites

This Site may link to external government sources and other websites for reference. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites.

Children

This Site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
